Defiant homeowners in Sydney’s North West are refusing to sell their properties to developers, even as sprawling suburbs are built around them.
"The Gables" is a multi billion dollar project with 4000 homes proposed for 13,000 people.
Lynn Iemma's five acres, backs right onto the development, but she is perplexed as to why her home hasn’t been rezoned.
"We have always said we will stay, we don't want to go, but another 10 years of this?" Mrs Iemma said.
There is a handful of properties that haven’t been swallowed up by the developer, which makes it impossible to sell for what Mrs Iemma says is a fair price.
Properties over the other side of her street fetched around $1.8 million an acre. Many of these were five to six acre blocks.
In Schofields, the transformation is almost finished. Maltese market gardens, are now rows of grey project homes.
